The Local Area

So much to do, an amazing beach and many fantastic restaurants and bars

The Payne's Bay beach is generally considered the best beach on the "platinum" west coast of Barbados.  The walk along the beach is very good - particularly first thing in the morning.  Turning right, you can walk up past the Sandy Lane hotel.  Turning left you can walk past the House hotel and Tamarin Hotel both being refurbished in 2025  as well as the great beach bar called gazebo great for lunches and buckets of Banks Beer !! .

The Restaurants in Barbados are superb, on the west coast we are blessed with many close by to Shutters QP and The Cliff being 2 of the best on the island  Sandy Lane does an amazing Sunday brunch Tides our favourite in Hole town  Fish pot, Sea Shed , Champers & La Cabane Lonestar Nishi Fusion Bearded Rose there are so many to choose from all worth trying.  Just consult, the Ins and Out magazine in the condo for many others   - if you need any help booking please let me know in advance of your stay especially in peak season this is to be recommended. We also have local street food sellers very near by the Condo Mr. Vic's is well worth trying as is the Roti Den both excellent and reasonably priced.

Holetown is about a mile away  - with many restaurants, bars and shops We love Breakfast at the Cafe Carizma in the chattel Houses but lots of the Restaurants do a breakfast service.  Lime Grove is a great shopping complex with shops from leading designers - Prices are not completely over the top as it is duty-free but remember your passport.  Good for buying watches & Jewllery. if you like wine go to Wine World opposite Lime Grove great selection and good value for the island also check out a new bar in Limegrove called Bearded Rose which is run by Sea shed - Buzz Box is great for coffee eat in or take away.

Quite a nice jog can be had to Holetown through the Sandy Lane old golf course.  Golf is excellent although pricey.  Apes Hill is superb.  You should contact them via their websites to play or use the Concierge service from Young Estates to book Tricia at Youngs is superb .  The Sandy Lane Old Course is close to the apartment and although challenging is quite good for beginners - it tends to be quiet during the day. If you are in to fitness Level up is a nice air conditioned gym and they also have Reformer Pilates www.performerpilates.com the classes get booked up so go on line in advance of your visit.

Barbados is great for kids and teens - we have been bringing ours for the last 25 years.  Lots of things to do as well as just relaxing on our beautiful beach.   Paddle boarding seems to be the latest craze.  There are various waters ports available on the beach - Jet skis, small sailboats, water ski boats & glass-bottomed boats for reef viewing etc. the Catamaran cruises are well worth booking we have used Cool Runnings on many occasions they are alot of fun.

We  always hire a car while we are here we have 1 car parking space under the condo  - Stoutes car rental are good and you can collect at the airport  However, the reggae buses are very frequent and stop outside the apartment and taxis are easy and relatively cheap if you decide not to rent.
